Program Overview
The Focused Aortic Root Endocarditis Workshop will provide hands-on training in aortic root surgery, with a particular focus on repair and reconstruction techniques that may be required following endocarditis. The mentored wet lab will provide the opportunity for multiple aortic root implants , step by step, utilizing the ideal biological “simulator” of the pig heart and the human aortic allograft.

- Appropriate trimming of an aortic allograft
- Coronary artery button development and implantation
- Suturing management
- Endocarditis/Abscess repair demonstration
- Reduction annuloplasty techniques
Intended Audience
This program is designed for practicing cardiac surgeons and fellows that have experience or have the desire to gain experience with the aortic root to facilitate the development of the cognitive and technical skill-set required for competent performance of aortic root procedures. Physician assistants encourage to attend with their surgeons.
